Rescued cats in need
The Cat Clinic of North Georgia is a veterinary clinic, but we all have a passion for rescuing and helping animals however we can. It has definitely been a struggle for us to stay afloat in this economy, but we are trying not to let this affect our ability to help. Here are some of our current rescues, and why our Rescue Cat Fund needs your help
JOE CAT -
Joe Cat is a senior who had a untreated leg infection over many months that had become septic. His owner brought him in and decided to euthanize him. We felt we owed it to Joe Cat to do everything we could to try and save him and asked the owner to sign him over to us. Despite being very sick and lethargic initially, Joe Cat responded to our treatment and his health rebounded. Dr. Pruett first removed necrotic, dead skin from his infected leg, then in a second surgery, performed a tedious skin graft, removing skin from Joe’s side to cover his injured leg. We are happy to report that Joe Cat is recovering comfortably from his surgeries. He is pain-free and loves to show his gratitude with headbutts and purrs. We are grateful to be able to help this senior cat live out his golden years.
Here are the rest of our Rescue Cats who are in need of homes. We monitor their health, treat any sicknesses, vaccinate them and carefully screen potential adoptive parents. All of our rescued cats are cared for and loved as if they are our own. All of our rescues will never be at risk of being euthanized once they are in our care. Please feel free to drop by our clinic during regular business hours, or call us if you have any questions about our rescue cats.

SAMMY
Sammy is a squishy, loveable, shy orange tabby with big, loving eyes and a warm personality. He prefers to hang out in "the quiet room," the adult cats corner, away from the hubbub of the clinic, or behind the washer. The quieter the better. He steers away from the younger cats, but doesn't mind the company of other, older cats. He is approximately 1-1/2 to 2 years old and is in good health. Sammy is a low maintence guy, loves to snooze and watch the world go by. His ideal home would be one that is quiet and has lots of sunshine and quiet nooks and crannys. |

JAZZ
Jazz was rescued with her sibling Tianna after being abandoned behind the grocery store of a rural Georgia supermarket in December. Other than being cold and neglected, she is in perfect health and loves to play and hang around with her sister. She has taken quickly to life at the clinic and enjoys the company of her foster brothers and sisters. Though she has plenty of kitten energy, she does love to cuddle up and snooze. As of Jan. 2010, Jazz is approximately 4 months old |

TIANNA
Named for the free-spirited heroine of "The Princess and The Frog" Tianna is a big bundle of furry love with boundless energy. She loves, loves to run and play and will do so until she is exhausted. She is a little diva and walks with a swish of her tail. But she is warm and loving, playful and curious and all the other things you'd expect from a kitten. She is in good health and a joy to be around. Come by and visit her and see if you don't think she's perfect. |

PILGRIM
We found Pilgrim he was very timid, and needed a lot of time to understand basic things like litterboxes, food bowls and love. He is still a bit wary of humans, but he never lashes out and is a sweet, gentle cat. He has big, curious eyes, but is still very, very shy. It has been a joy to watch him emerge, slowly from his shell, watching the other cats play and tenatively joining. He will probably need a lot of understanding, patience and a little more time to come around, but we think he'd be worth the wait.

SCOUT
Scout was living in the lot behind the clinic. Periodically we'd see him searching for food until we were able to trap him just after Thansgiving, right as the weather began to turn frigid. Scout took immediately to being an indoor cat. He loves human attention and relishes having a warm play to lay and food when he wants it. He is the resident huggy cat and doesn't mind that in the least. We are happy to say he's at a healthy weight and would love to be a kept cat forever. Come by and meet him, see if you feel the same. |

MAMA BRISTOL
We named this gal Bristol because she's too young to have kittens. This young gal arrived shortly after giving birth. She patiently nursed her brood of 5 to the point of exhaustion, and even endured long weeks of being in isolation with them while everyone was being treated and nursed back to health. Bristol is about a year old and a half, is in good health and has been spayed. She is very shy and prefers to spend time by herself snoozing in a corner. It takes her a bit to warm up, but she would make an outstanding addition to any quiet, small family.

BERRIES
One of Mama Bristol's boys. He and his brother Cobbs spent a long time in isolation by themselves, but both of them love to play. It's not unusual to see Berries bouncing off the walls of his cage when put to bed for the night. In the cat room, he energetically chases after the feather toy, leaping high and sometimes somersaulting in the air. It's a good show and he is one of the cats who will play until he is exhausted. Berries is about 6 months old (as of 1/10) and in good health. He is Cobbs' best friend and would be lost without him.

COBBS
Cobbs is just as sweet and charming as his brother, and is winning everyone over with his innocent and charming nature. He is playful and gets along well with other kittens and all humans. He is not as energetic as Berries, but does love to run around every so often. Very much loves to snuggle up to humans, loves to lick fingers and hands. We would love for Cobbs to go home with his brother as they love each other very much.

BOOMER
Boomer's sweet face hides his secret weapon ... and his namesake. The little boy has some pipes, and he isn't afraid to use them when he isn't happy. Boomer was born deaf but doesn't allow his disability to hold him back. He is people friendly and gets along well with other cats. He likes to play, but is also very inquisitive. Boomer is a deep sleeper and it's amusing to watch him snoozing while other kittens play around him. As of 1/10, Boomer is about 7 months old.

FLUFFY
Fluffy is a beautiful long haired calico who was rescued by a neighbor after her owners had moved and left her abandoned in their garage. This gal prefers to be by herself and doesn't mind hanging out around the house snoozing or lying in the sun. She would do well in a quiet household as she tends to hide when there are a lot of people around. She'd make an ideal pet for someone wants a cat, but doesn't want one who needs constant attention and affection. Sometimes she's friendly, sometimes she is cranky, but that's our girl.
