Laser Therapy

The Cat Clinic of North Georgia is proud to partner with Companion Therapy Laser to offer a unique treatment option for your cat. Companion Therapy Laser is the leader in the development off laser treatment for companion pets. The treatments are designed to give your cat fast pain relief and improved healing.

What can laser therapy do?

  • Allows your pet to heal faster after surgery or traumatic injury.
  • Eases pain and improves mobility without pharmaceuticals or surgery
  • Provides relief of aches and pains in geriatric cats, or for those who suffer from arthritis.
  • Helps disorders like lick granulomas, acne or ear infections.
  • Some other applications of laser therapy include skin conditions, post surgical pain relief and healing, degererative joint disease, gingivitis, insect bites, lacerations, cystitis, burns and more.

How does it work?

The Companion Therapy Laser System offered at the Cat Clinic of North Georgia is an FDA cleared, deep penetrating light that allows relief of pain through the release of endorphins. When the laser is used, non-thermal photons of light are absorbed by the cells. Injured cells respond with a higher metabolism, allowing healing from within. Tissue stimulated with the laser will respond with increased blood supply which will help to relieve inflammation as well as encourage the healing process.

What happens during treatment?

Treatment sessions are fairly quick, typically lasting five minutes, depending on the condition being corrected. The laser is emitted by a wand which allows greater delivery of photons. Some cats with chronic arthritis have started purring happily during the therapy. Others with more acute problems, fidget during initial treatments, but then begin to relax during subsequent visits as the healing power of the laser takes effect. Results may be immediate and dramatic, but with any sort of treatment, the best course of action is a steady, concentrated set of treatments. At the Cat Clinic of North Georgia, we see the best results when a condition is treated repeatedly over a few weeks. Typically this means six to eight laser treatments in a two-week period, followed by a maintenance period where treatments are done further apart.
