Rescue Cats -- Anne

Anne was part of the trio of Moms brought to us by Gwinnett County. She was pregnant when she arrived, but there was no way to know when she was due. Over the July 4th weekend, the "Anne Watch" went into effect. Anne showed no sign of distress (other than being as big as a house) over the weekend and was even taking daily jaunts around the clinic. All that changed Sunday night, July 6.

All hope for a normal delivery quickly disappeared when a kitten started to emerge tail first. An emergency C-section was performed by Dr. Pruett. The babies came through surgery well, but Anne had a bit of a harder time.

By monday morning it became apparent that Anne needed additional care. We ended up having to give her a blood transfusion and additional IV fluids. During this time, staff members and volunteers bottle-fed the kittens to insure their survival.

By Tuesday morning, thanks to Fluffy's blood donation and the efforts of our stafff, Anne was back to her normal self and we were able to re-introduce her to her kittens. Mother and babies are now doing beautifully.

Anne's surgery and subsequent transfusion turned out well, but it did drain the resources from our Rescue Cat Fund. If you would like to support our efforts with Emily, Charlotte, Anne and all the kittens, please consider a donation to our fund. If you are interested in seeing or adopting any of our fosters, feel free to drop by the clinic during regular business hours. We anticipate the kittens and cats will be ready to adopt around the end of summer.
